G has been coming along to the Computer Club at Old Farm Court, Colinton Road, for a while now.
She doesn’t have her own computer or device and appears to have no intention of getting one!
She is very welcome at the Club nonetheless and does get a lot out of coming to it as far as I can gather.
She has physical and communication difficulties and my impression is that she can tell us about things that she’d struggle with otherwise e.g her interests via Google and family via her Facebook page.
This insider knowledge makes it far easier, come the coffee break and at other times, to enjoy a conversation with G.
I think that this illustrates where our Clubs can be of real benefit to those who face barriers to communication and helping them to interact with others and avoid social isolation and corresponding problems.
