Tap into IT Where You Are has adapted the services offered to accommodate the Government’s social distancing requirements.
As computers, tablets and smartphones are a lifeline for many of us in the current climate, we are offering to help “beginners” get online. This will take the form of a few weeks of 1:1 training with follow-up training in small groups.
We are also facilitating online groups for users who are isolated and would benefit from “seeing” and talking to people.
Viewpoint Housing Association and the Eric Liddell Centre Carer Support / Dementia Support are currently using our services. Additionally, we support people the community, who either self fund or qualify for support through grant funding whenever we manage to secure it.
Click on the tabs below for more information on the services that we offer.
‘GETTING CONNECTED’ BEGINNER PROGRAMME
Tap into IT has developed a beginner programme to suit older people that we call ‘Getting Connected’.
The programme comprises 3 weeks of 1:1 training followed by weekly small group sessions for 10 weeks at a time for up to a year. The rapport and confidence building on the 1:1 sessions provides the foundation for the small group work that follows.
We provide a professional service with suitably selected, PVG-checked, skilled staff as well as volunteer assistants.
Housing Associations, Community Groups or individuals interested in our Beginner Programme should contact Mike Ellis on 07762 982 509 for more information.
‘CONNECTED’ GROUP
We all need a bit of company but what can you do if you can’t meet up with others?
Tap into IT invite you to join an online group’ together with 3-4 others and a Tap into IT Volunteer Helper. It’s the next best thing to meeting up with friends in person.
Advantages over a phone call?
- Seeing them on your screen as well as talking to them makes a big difference.
- Chatting with a group of folk rather than just one person.
Don’t worry if you’ve never used ‘Zoom’ or similar tools before, that’s what the Helper is there for; s/he has lots of experience, patience and time to do this kind of thing, unlike some of your relatives perhaps!
You’ll need the internet and whatever device you use – your iPad or other ‘tablet’, mobile phone, laptop or desktop computer.
Contact Mike Ellis on 07762 982 509 if you’re interested and he’ll get you connected with others as soon as possible.
